In our district, families have the freedom to choose the educational path that best fits their child’s unique strengths, interests, and goals. You can stay with your neighborhood school or explore one of our innovative choice programs designed to inspire and empower.
Why consider a choice program?
- Specialized Learning: From STEM to career-focused academies, choice programs offer tailored experiences that spark curiosity and deepen learning.

- Diverse Opportunities: Families can explore different schools and programs across the district, expanding access to high-quality education.
No matter which path you choose, we’re here to support your family every step of the way. All Choice Programs require an application, and selection is based on specific criteria. These programs are available to all students regardless of zoning.
Application Window for 2027 - 2028:
- Fall Window (Semester 1): October 5 - November 20, 2026 (The notification date for complete applications is December 4, 2026). Note: These dates reflect an update to what is printed in the School Choice Guide.
- Spring Window (Semester 2): December 7, 2026 - January 12, 2027 (The notification date for complete applications is January 30, 2027)
- Late Application (Pending Seat Availability): June 1 - June 8, 2027 (The notification date for complete applications is June 25, 2027)
Special Recruitment Opportunities:
- October 20, 2026: High School Options Night! Come out and learn about all high school options. This event is open to the public and will be hosted at GWHS Auditorium starting promptly at 5pm.

The following applications require three Teacher Recommendation. Please obtain the teacher's email prior to submitting the application:
- AET
- Early College
- Governor's School
Application Support Sessions:
When the application window opens, the district will provide virtually office hours you can access to get support with your child's application. For each of the sessions listed below, use this link to access the virtual session.
- October 8: 2pm - 2:30pm
- October 13: 10am - 10:30am
- October 26: 4pm - 4:30pm
Virtual Information Session:
During the application window, the Advanced Learning and School Choice Department will offer virtual sessions that will provide an overview of each school choice program. Use the links below to register to attend one of the Virtual Open House Sessions:
