How Families can Support Students
At DPS, we're committed to helping ALL students achieve. However, we value partnership with students and parents to increase student achievement. This page has helpful information about student and parent responsibilities and resources so that we can all work together to be successful.
Student Responsibilities
• Be in school daily on time and ready to learn
• Complete assignments including homework
• Ask for help when needed
• Participate in tutoring
• Study and prepare for assessments
• Give your best effort every day, especially on test days!
• Set goals for yourself

How can I be a partner?
- Ensure students spend time reading at home
- Read with your child
- Let your child see you reading
- Look for opportunities to see math in everyday life.
- Practice the four basic operations
- Reinforce how you use math
- Consistent attendance for your child
- In school, on time daily
- Support your child with homework
- Be positive when discussing homework
- Create a time and space to make it a priority
- Maintain contact with your child's teacher
- Review progress reports
- Conferences (in person and via phone)
