Mrs. Stephanie Wray

Welcome Parents and Students,

My name is Stephanie Wray, and I will be your 5th grade Reading and Writing teacher for the upcoming school year. I am so excited to welcome you all into my class this year. I hope to bring fun into learning this year, and to create a safe and welcoming environment for the students. I remember all the times in my childhood where teachers made such an impact in my life, and I hope to be that for you as well.

A little about me I am currently working on my license, but I have a bachelor’s of science degree with an emphasis on health. I also have a minor is psychology. I have years of experience working in the health field. I found a passion through teaching in college, but it really has developed as a love I have over the past year. I think education is so important along with the social skills we build. My goal is to really incorporate the different types of learning from each student, and spark a love of reading and writing.

However, as we embark in on the New Year I feel it is very important to have a set of expectations, and a clear communication set between the parents, student, and teacher. I have a set of expectations which are as follows advocate for yourself, respect others opinions and boundaries, raise your hand to ensure equal opportune for others, and to participate along with being an active listener. My consequences are first a warning, second a think sheet, third a phone call home, and lastly an office visit. My expectations for late work is that I will accept late work, however, I will deduct late points from the overall grade. Homework assignments are posted on my DPS teacher website weekly. Homework is not graded, but students are assigned 30 minutes of reading homework every night. While I do not grade homework it is vital that students practice the skills they learn in class to help ensure their success. The practice I assign the students also help me see exactly what concepts they may be struggling with. This will help me ensure they get extra attention on that particular skill set, so they can understand what they are learning. Please feel free to reach out via phone or email. My phone number 434-441-9016 and my email swray@mail.dps.k12.va.us I look forward to working with all of you this year!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Wray
