Mrs. Kimberly Moten
My name is Kimberly Moten. This year I'm excited about kicking off my 10th Anniversary of teaching in the classroom! I was born and raised in Washington, D.C., but spent my high school years in a town called Roanoke Rapids, NC. I attended North Carolina Central University for undergrad and Mercer University in Atlanta, GA for graduate school.
One interesting fact about me is that I lived and worked in Shenzhen, China for five years. Yes, I do speak Chinese just in case you're wondering. I was fortunate to teach AP US History and AP Human Geography while there. I also worked beside administration and served as the Department Chair for Social Sciences for three years.
This year I am teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade history at the Virtual Academy and I can't wait to embark on this journey.
I currently reside in Atlanta, Ga with my husband and two kids (Josh Jr. & Charley).
When I'm not teaching, I enjoy traveling around the world and growing our family business.
I believe in the old saying, “If you give a man a fish, he will be hungry tomorrow. If you teach a man to fish, he will be richer forever.” My philosophy is to empower students to take ownership in their actions and help equip them with a mindset to win in life.
