Master Chief Green
Command Master Chief Daryl Green, a native of Danville, Virginia, enlisted in the Navy in July 1984. After completing Boot Camp and Seaman Apprenticeship Training, he reported to USS KISKA (AE-35) in Concord, CA. Aboard KISKA, he served initially as a Deck Seaman and later became a Personnel Specialist. In 1988, Master Chief Green affiliated as a reservist with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 23, Ft Belvoir, Virginia. His next reserve assignment was to BUPERS (Selection Board Staff) Washington DC. He was recalled back to active duty in July 1989 and later that year transferred to Personnel Support Detachment Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland. His follow-on sea duty assignments also include tours with aviation squadrons HM 18 and HM 14, Norfolk, Virginia. In 1998, he completed a tour with Readiness Command Eight, Jacksonville, Florida, where he advanced to Chief Petty Officer. Next, as Command Chief at Navy Operational Support Center, Columbus, Georgia, he was honored as the recipient of the prestigious Rear Admiral Harness Enlisted Leadership Award. While assigned to Commander, Naval Reserve Forces Command, New Orleans, he advanced to Senior Chief. He also served on staff at Naval Expeditionary Logistic Support Group Williamsburg,Virginia, making several Persian Gulf deployments. While assigned again to Commander, Naval Reserve Forces Command, New Orleans, Louisiana in 2006, Master Chief Green served as the N1 SEA and Individual Augmentation (IA) Coordinator for the Navy Reserve Force. He successfully screened for the Command Master Chief (CMC) Program in January 2008 and was detailed as CMC of USS KIDD (DDG-100) homeported in San Diego, California. This warship won three Battle Es during his tenure. His next CMC tour was with MSRON FOUR, Portsmouth, Virginia. He later began a tour as the first CMC for Coastal Riverine Squadron FOUR, Little Creek, VA. In 2013, he was selected by Commander, Navy Reserve Force as a Flag-Level Command Master Chief of the entire Reserve Force. Finally, and with grand ceremony, Master Chief Green retired from active duty in March 2016 after 32 years of service. He is currently a Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps, Navy Science Instructor at his alma mater, George Washington High School, Danville, VA. Master Chief is a graduate of Vencennes University,
