A native of Ringgold, Va. Master Chief Shawn Grasty graduated from Dan River High School. He enlisted in the Navy as a Postal Clerk. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Excelsior University. Additionally, Master Chief Grasty is a graduate of the United States Navy Senior Enlisted Academy, Gold class 153 and has earned his Enlisted Surface Warfare, Enlisted Aviation Warfare, Expeditionary Warfare pins.

Master Chief teaches Naval Science/ROTC and serves as the Assistant Varsity boys basketball coach for GWHS. He taught for two years at Varina High School in Richmond, Va. He was part of the 2021-2022 Varsity boys basketball coaching staff, where they won the Class 4D state championship.

He is also certified as a Master's Training Specialist and a Life Coach specializing in Leadership, Self-awareness, and Time Management. 

Master Chief Grasty completed a 30-year Naval career with faithful service to our country.
