Mini Biography: 

About your teacher

 My name is Sheldon Southerland. I have had over four decades working in public education.  My years as a CTE administrator in two different school districts were spent improving and designing exciting programs for student learning. As a classroom teacher in high and middle schools, I have witnessed the enjoyment and sense of accomplishment students display when they achieve goals they never dreamed of. 

I believe that learning is fun and gives us an opportunity to understand the many options we have while establishing our place in this world. The GoTEC lab is designed with the future in mind. I am so excited about the investment that the Danville community has provided for you all. I have eight grandchildren and only hope that they are able to have the kind of quality educational experiences that you will have in the GoTEC lab. To get the most out of the lab, focus on safe operations and processes as outlined by your teacher. I will make sure that you are able to be successful in the lab.

I am 70 years of age. So why am I still teaching? I love learning new things and seeing the expression on students' faces when they develop new skills. Especially skills they did not know or believe they were capable of learning. 

Remember to focus on the work and other activities and the grades will take care of themselves. The class is designed for all students that do their work to earn an “A” or “B.”  I am excited and really looking forward to seeing you all.
