The Westwood Tiger Band is under the direction of Mr. Demond McNair. Mr. McNair holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Ed. from North Carolina A&T State University.  This is Mr. McNair's 21st year at Westwood Middle School. Under his direction, the music program at Westwood Middle School has received superior and excellent ratings at District 6 Band and Orchestra Assessment. Mr. McNair was awarded teacher of the year during the 2012-13 school year. He is a member of the National Music Educators Association, the Virginia Music Educators Association, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Professional Music Fraternity, and the National Education Association.  Mr. McNair resides in Greensboro, NC. 

The band program at Westwood Middle School has an enrollment of 57 students.  Students at Westwood Middle School start their band experience in 6th grade. After middle school, students in the band go on to attend George Washington High School Band under the direction of Cody Kesling.

The Honor band is comprised of seventh and eighth grade students and has received Superior and Excellent ratings at Band and Orchestra Concert Assessment.  The 6th-8th grade band students enjoy performing in a winter and spring concert during the school year. The band has several students to participate in our All District  Band each year.
