Summer Meals Program Agency Invite 2026

Danville Public Schools (DPS) Child Nutrition Department is pleased to announce participation in the USDA 2026 Summer Meals Program. We invite your organization to partner with us in providing nutritious meals to children throughout the summer months.

The Summer Meals Program offers free meals to:

  • All children 18 years of age and younger
  • Individuals 19 years and older who are mentally or physically disabled and participate in a public or private nonprofit school program for individuals with disabilities

DPS Child Nutrition will offer the following meal service options:

  • Breakfast
  • Lunch
  • Snack
  • Supper

Agencies may select a maximum of two meal services (with the exception of the lunch and supper combination). Once selected, meal services cannot be changed without state approval.

Please review and complete the attached Sponsor/Site Agreement and Site Registration Form prior to the training session. Be sure to answer all questions and return the completed forms via email to Ms. Wanda Barber.


Summer Meals Program Operations

  • Dates: June 8 – July 23, 2026
  • Days of Operation: Monday through Thursday
    (Specific guidance will be provided for Friday meals.)

Mandatory Training Session
Participation in annual training is required by USDA for all participating agencies.

Important Compliance Requirements

  • Each child must receive all meal components (no offer vs. serve)
  • Meals must be consumed on-site
  • Daily paperwork must be completed and returned the following day at meal pick-up
  • Meal delivery service is not available

If the site supervisor or director is unable to attend, a designated representative may attend on behalf of the organization.
