School Board Wrap Up - June 18

During their meeting on Thursday, the Danville School Board heard the following communication items:

  • Chief of Schools Jo Ellen Hylton presented the Multi Year School Support Plan for R.I.S.E. Academy, which includes goals for significant gains in student achievement, attendance, instructional quality, family engagement, and teacher retention.
  • Chief Financial Officer Andrea Gillus presented the most recent accounts payable warrants.

The board took the following actions:

  • Approved the awarding of RFP-2526-538 Glenwood Elevator to Daniel Builders LLC, presented by Director of Capital Improvement Walter Lucas
  • Approved personnel recommendations presented by Director of Human Resources Joyce Hatcher
  • Approved the finance report presented by Gillus
  • Approved a 2025-2026 budget amendment presented by Gillus
  • Approved the adoption of the 26-27 Operating Budget presented by Gillus
  • Approved the nomination of Marketa Bass Jones for the Virginia School Boards Association’s School Board Clerk of the Year award
