School Board Wrap Up - August 20

During their August 20, 2026 meeting, the Danville School Board recognized school-based staff with perfect attendance for the 25-26 school year, including Toni Barker, Jasmine Bratton, Johnna Chambers, Zachary Crumpler, Manuel Dodson, Carol Edwards, Noemi Graham, Jackquelyn Harrell, Cynthia Johnson, Christina Jumper, Matilda McLaughlin, Tammy Meadow, Sandra Motley, Chimere Prunty, Peggie Saunders, Karen White, and Tracy Wilson.

The board heard the following communication items:

  • Chief Academic Officer Dr. Takiwi Babalola gave a report on the 2026 Summer Learning Opportunities, which included 1,063 students enrolled across all opportunities.
  • Chief Financial Officer Andrea Gillus presented the most recent accounts payable warrants. 
  • Board Member Keisha Walker shared an update from the August 6 policy meeting.

The board took the following actions:

  • Approved the CTE advisory committee presented by CTE Director Dr. Gwyn Stone.
  • Approved the gifted advisory committee presented by Curriculum and Instruction Director Kim Agnor.
  • Approved the special education advisory committee presented by Office for Exceptional Children Director Beth Minter.
  • Approved personnel recommendation presented by Chief Human Resources Officer Angela Wimberly.
  • Approved the finance report presented by Gillus.
