DPS announces 26-27 Teachers of the Year
Each year, Danville Public Schools (DPS) teachers at each school select a colleague to recognize for outstanding work in the classroom and in the school community. This year’s Teachers of the Year have been selected and will be honored at a ceremony in November.
The division’s Teachers of the Year for 2026-2027 are as follows:

- Wanda Austin, E.A. Gibson Elementary
- Mary Green, Forest Hills Elementary
- Judith McDonald, Park Avenue Elementary
- Robin Jackson, Schoolfield Elementary
- Robyn Brandon, Woodberry Hills Elementary
- Carrie Agnor, Activ8 STEM Academy
- Bruce Waller, O.T. Bonner Middle
- Yolanda Hicks, Westwood Middle
- Ashley Murphy, Galileo Magnet High
- Jennifer Penn, George Washington High
- Karen Grayton, R.I.S.E. Academy
- Lucas Tressler, W.W. Moore Education Program
From these candidates, DPS will also submit a nomination for the 2027 Mary V. Bicouvaris Virginia Teacher of the Year award.
