Danville Public Schools (DPS) is committed to effectively managing its records by adhering to best practices and following a systematic and logical plan developed by the schools and central departments that maintain the records in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

After withdrawal or graduation, on or after July 1, 2024, student educational records are maintained in their entirety for a retention period of seven years. After seven years the records are purged and only long-term documents are maintained, per the requirements of the Library of Virginia General Schedules. You may request the original student educational record prior to June 1 of the disposition year by contacting the DPS Records Office (434) 554-4085.

HOW TO ORDER A TRANSCRIPT OR ENROLLMENT VERIFICATION

  • Current student records are maintained at the school, and former student records are maintained in the records office. Closed schools include: Glenwood Elementary, Grasty School, Westmoreland, Robert E. Lee, Schoolfield High School, W. Townes Lea Elementary and Woodrow Wilson Middle School. All current and former student records requests please use Scribbles services.
