Title I Overview

Title I is a federal grant reauthorized under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act As the Every Student Succeeds Act(ESSA) of 2015. The purpose of this legislation is "to help the neediest schools and students reach the same challenging standards expected of all children" (Public Law 107-110). All six of Danville’s elementary schools serve grades K-5, both middle schools serve grades 6-8, as well as George Washington High School and R.I.S.E. Academy.  All ten schools implement a Title I Schoolwide Program. The Title I grant addresses four major goals:

• Improve language arts strategies and skills
• Develop mathematics concepts and skills
• Promote critical thinking and problem solving skills
• Encourage family engagement in the education of children

Danville Public Schools' Title I, Part A program's funding for the 2025-2026 school year is $4,570,179.73. The final allocation will be used to fund instructional salaries, staff professional development, family engagement program activities, instructional materials and supplies, staff salaries, remediation, enrichment, and mandated Title I school improvement activities.

At the end of each school year, the district will evaluate the Title I program in the following areas:

1. Improved student outcomes
2. Greater family engagement
3. More high quality professional development
4. Effectiveness of instructional strategies, materials, and resources

In conducting the program evaluation, all stakeholders will review student data, parent, and staff surveys to evaluate the impact on student achievement. The findings will be used to plan and improve the program for the next year, pending funding.

The intent of the Continuous School Support Plan (CSSP) is to raise the educational achievement of all students in the school while focusing on the educational needs of at-risk students. The plan should reflect all strategies the school intends to implement in the upcoming year.

The CSSP must address parent involvement in two ways. First, it must describe how the school will provide students with written notice about the school's identification for improvement. Second, it must specify the strategies that will be used to promote parental involvement. This can be accomplished by including the school's Family Improvement Policy/Plan. Each school's CSSP plan is unique, resulting in effective and efficient approaches to the delivery of instructional services.
