Behavioral Health and Wellness
Safe Spaces, Happy Faces
Danville Public Schools is committed to creating safe, supportive, and positive learning environments where every student can succeed. Our Behavior Support Specialists work alongside school teams to strengthen positive behavior systems, support Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), and promote restorative practices.
Through PBIS, Behavior Support Specialists help schools create consistent expectations, recognize positive behavior, and provide proactive strategies that help students stay engaged and successful.
Restorative practices focus on building relationships, understanding the impact of behavior, taking responsibility, and repairing harm. In alignment with Virginia's approach to evidence-based restorative disciplinary practices, schools may use strategies such as restorative conversations, circles, mentoring, peer mediation, and other collaborative approaches that promote accountability, healing, and reconnection to the school community.
