    Dear Forest Hills Families and Friends,

    We would like to welcome your child to Kindergarten for the 2022 - 2023 school year! We feel your child’s first year in school is one of the most important in his/her life and we are very excited to have your child in Kindergarten this year!  We are looking forward to helping your child learn and grow. You will be amazed at how much your child learns and grows this year and we are so thrilled to be a part of it. The first year of school is always exciting as we become familiar with friends and establish new routines. I hope that together we can help your child have a successful Kindergarten experience!

    To help prepare your child for Kindergarten, here are a few things you can be practicing at home that will help the transition to Kindergarten start more smoothly!

    • Writing their first name

    • Tying their shoes

    • Raising their hand

    • Zipping/Buttoning their jacket and pants

    • Sitting in a chair or criss-cross on the floor

    • Politely asking for help

    • Using scissors and glue

    • Using the bathroom and washing hands independently

    • Following 1- or 2- step directions
