COURSE DESCRIPTION

6th GRADE This course will cover the Standards of Learning (SOL) for 6th grade mathematics. We will be following the guide from the Danville Essential Knowledge & Skills framework (DEKS). Features a variety of activities to extend problem solving and analytical abilities application of math in everyday settings and drills practice in math fundamentals.

7th GRADE This course will cover the Standards of Learning (SOL) for 7th grade mathematics. We will be following the guide from the Comprehensive Instructional Program (CIP). Features a variety of activities to extend problem solving and analytical abilities, application of math in everyday settings and drills practice in math fundamentals.

GRADING POLICY & HANDBOOK

Grading Scale:

A= 90-100         B= 80-89       C= 70-79           D= 60-69          F= below 60

Grade Weights

Summative Assessments (Gold Category) = 40%

“Short-Cycle” Assessments (Silver Category) = 35%

Classwork/Warm up (Bronze Category) = 25%

ATTENDANCE

Attendance

Parents of students who are absent must inform the school of the reason for the absence no later than upon the student’s return to school. Absences are excused for the following reasons:

  • Illness (if over two days, may require a note from a doctor)
  • Required court appearance
  • Death in the family
  • Religious holiday
  • Field trips and school authorized activities; and
  • Extenuating circumstances which are determined by the school administration.

Whenever your child is absent from school, please use this Absence/Excuse Notes form to submit your excuse.

HOMEWORK

    Students' homework will consist of three math problems. Students should be prepared to share their answers with the class the following day.
